Carolyn Lambert | Dec. 2, 1940 – July 17, 2013 | Well known on the Baldwin City campus for her kindness and helping establish the parMentors, Carolyn Faye Lambert served as first lady of Baker University from 1987 to 2006. She was recognized as an honorary alumna in 1990. The Collins House reception hall was dedicated in her honor in 2006. Her daughter,Kristian, is a 1999 graduate of Baker’s School of Nursing.

JJ Lanning, ’50 | July 5, 1928 – Feb. 1, 2013 | A lifelong supporter of Baker University and a member of the Board of Trustees from 1990 to 2011, JJ Lanning was awarded the University’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1991 and received an honorary doctorate from the university in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, ’49.

He taught speech communication at Baker from 1969 to 1983 and was director of the traveling religious drama troupe, Baker pLaymen, later known as pLaity. He was best known for the local historical musical stage production, “The Ballad of Black Jack.”

Larry Parkin, ’56 | Sept. 21, 1934 – Sept. 10, 2013 | Connected to the university since the 1950s, Larry Parkin, was a Baker Trustee from 1989 to 1997, serving as board chair from 1993 to 1995, and from 2007 to 2013. He was a member of Zeta Chi. His wife, Kay, ’55, and daughters, Karin, ’79, and Peggy, ’84, are Baker graduates. The University hosted a Celebration of Life in his honor on Sept. 17 at Rice Auditorium.
